Who Am I

Veronique Palmer - I am part of a project team responsible for the management of the SharePoint environment for an organization in excess of 40 000 people. I have only been involved in SharePoint a little over 2 years now, but am truly passionate about the product and its possibilities.

I have worked in IT most of my career, in project admin with no development experience. It has been challenging keeping up with all the 'techie talk' by the SharePoint experts around me. However, as I deal with business people every single day who also don't always understand the lingo, it has worked to my advantage in some aspects. They tend to glaze over when the IT people try and explain concepts to them, (I know how they feel - I'm not even sure how to run this site properly). But the time has come time for me to close that gap as it seriously starting to impact my abilities. Thankfully I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by exceptionally clever SharePoint experts from whom I can learn, and have started studying every night.

Until that happens, my blog on SharePoint is purely from an administrator's point of view; specifically for site owners and power users. I believe there is a gap for this type of blog because when I was just starting out, I found it near impossible to get my questions answered when I had no idea how to start or what to do. I am by no means an expert, it will be a few years before I can claim that status, but perhaps you can take this journey with me and we can learn together.

So I will share my tips, tricks, challenges and best practices based on my personal experience on this amazing product. I remember how I felt when I first started out, I will keep this blog simple. There are more than enough technical blogs out there and I will be referring you to some fantastic ones. This blog is for the end users. But when I get it wrong, I hope the advanced users out there will be kind enough to explain why and guide me in the right direction. Enjoy.
